“The sound is intimate, the performances are radiant – music that entertains and inspires.” ~ Grady Harp, Amazon Top 100 Reviewer
“Comprised of original material composed and arranged by guitarist Dr. Kristen R. Bromley, her latest release Bluish Tide is an uplifting jaunt that demonstrates aspects of vintage jazz blues coupled with modern vestiges…Bluish Tide is Kristen’s second jazz release as a leader. The album is a mix of swing, funk, and jazz blues. Her devotion to enrich, uplift, enlighten, and inspire audiences through her music and performance is evidenced in her material and arrangements.” ~ Jazz2Love
“Just a few years ago, Bromley broke her left arm and was told she’d never play again. Not believing everything she heard, she now gives us her second album since then and it finds her swinging harder than before. A killer combo date, everyone is cooking with the gas on high as this jazz guitar date seems to write the book and smoking, hopping vibes. This is the kind of set that can turn any pair of headphones into your fave club.” ~ Chris Spector, Midwest Record
“The composing throughout is heavy on clear and soulful melodies…Bromley goes through a variety of musical styles from swing to Latin to contemporary and keeps the continuity of her style and music voice ever present. The group as a whole is in top form and when it comes time to swing they can really put out. Bromley’s guitar playing and sound is strong and melodic and is done in a style reminiscent of her predecessors yet clearly all her own. The recording itself is pristine along with her musical arrangements. The end result for ‘Bluish Tide’ is a joyful journey into the heart and soul of a great guitarist and composer and her comrades.” ~ Frank Kohl, Cadence Magazine
“Her playing is always impeccable, informed no doubt by equal parts pedagogy and virtuosity…Miss Bromley is most certainly a guitarist to watch. She performs with consummate artistry, blending superior control and tonal lucidity with a cohesive sense of line and motion. This music could hardly be better served.” ~ Raul Da Gama
“If you’re a guitar fan of the straight-ahead variety, get a load of this lady Kristen R. Bromley. Her style is a melding together of vintage Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino and a dash of Pat Metheny – what more do you want, buddy? She fronts a simpatico team…through a collection of hip originals, with a gorgeous hymn thrown in for good measure…Repeated rewards.” ~ George Harris, Jazz Weekly

In Kristen’s words:
“God, our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ know us personally, and love us beyond measure. Seeking to know them has been the greatest privilege and quest of my life. Christ’s reality and majesty has hit me at times in such a way that I wish I could shout and sing halleluiah loud enough for the whole world to hear, and at other times so powerfully and profoundly that I can scarcely even whisper. Each of the selections on this album express a piece of my witness of Jesus Christ, the magnificent and glorified Son of God, the Savior of the world, and even more personal to me, my Redeemer, Healer, Friend, and source of Peace, Light, and Joy. May this album be a window for you in feeling of Christ’s love and coming to know Him better, as performing and arranging these hymns has for me. ”

After recovering from what should have been a life-altering and guitar-career-ending injury, Dr. Kristen R. Bromley is back at it! On this album, Kristen delivers fiery, soulful, folksy, and bluesy jazz guitar playing along with the exciting and interactive accompaniment of Jay Lawrence on drums and Matt Larson on bass. Released June 1, 2019.
In Kristen’s own words:
I’m really excited about this upcoming new album. It is, without a doubt, Simply Miraculous. About three years ago, my left-arm radial nerve was crushed when I broke my humerus bone in an accident. As a result, I lost the ability to control the movement of my left-hand and wrist. My hand essentially felt and acted like dead-weight at the end of my arm. Consequently, I was diagnosed with a condition called radial nerve palsy; and the prognosis indicated that, in a best-case-scenario, I might someday regain a small percentage of the function and use of my left-arm and hand. However, due to God’s mercy and intervention, an inspired surgeon, and a lot of patience and hard work on my part, I experienced a miraculous recovery from this injury and I slowly regained the ability to play the guitar. This release is a celebration of that miracle.
On this album, I perform some of my original compositions and arrangements in a trio setting with Jay Lawrence on drums and Matt Larson on bass. These gentlemen are both outstanding musicians and human beings. The jazz music we play together is exciting, interactive, and authentic. For me, it expresses the overall joy that I feel for the gift of life and music; and for the “simply miraculous” opportunity that I have to play the guitar again.
